Rocket Stoves - Simple and Useful

The rocket stove is amazing.  They can be simple, or complex.  They can be extremely affordable.  And they can even be fairly portable.  You can look at these stoves and wonder just why you would even take the time to build one.  Here's the fact - you can get a fully functioning stove, using small, very small, pieces of wood, leaves and twigs.  Even palm fronds.

Check out the rocket stove my brother built on his property.  This entire stove consist of 4 large block and one small grill from a stove top.

You can find a lot more info on this type of stove by checking out the post on Sapient Conglomeration, by clicking right here.

Now I have found another site that has some great ideas for rocket stoves.  This is not a stove that you are going to pack up and take camping with you, but it would be great to have, just in case you don't have much fuel to cook your foods, in an emergency situation.

Mr. Homegrown describes the rocket stove like this -

The principle behind a rocket stove is simple–rather than cooking on an open fire, you burn wood in an insulated chimney. Rocket stoves are highly efficient and easy to make. They run on twigs, so you can avoid cutting down a whole tree just to cook dinner.

The Root Simple site  has a ton of great ideas - check out this five gallon bucket rocket stove.  Complete with instructions. And continue to check out other ideas too.  Go the Root Simple by clicking here.
