Kicking Off This New Blog

Think about prepping.  Do you do a little prepping.  Or a lot of prepping?  Why do you even think about it?  I believe the thought is so over whelming for some people that they choose not to do anything.  Prepping is a bit difficult for me because I have a tendency to do things to an extreme.  Most projects never get completed because they become too much.  This will not be the case with my prepping.  The reason I prep is not what most will think of.  My biggest fear is how the general public, who are not prepared, will react and respond to disaster.  Weather it is small or world wide.

I am a Grandmother and a Great Grandmother who enjoys blogging.  I do a bit of it when I am not busy making ends meet with my home based sewing business.  Most of what I blog about is entertaining to me, and often only to me.  But it is a form of entertainment.  Not the case when it comes to this blog.

Prepping is a subject that I am adamant about.  Not in an extreme sort of way but in a small scale and simple sort of way.  I've never watched an episode of Doomsday Preppers.  I have not built a bomb shelter.  And I do not have a 10 year supply of beans, yet.  What I do have is a start to a reasonable stock of food and supplies.  Reasonable for someone of my age, with my financial limitations and physical abilities.

I have a few couple of goals.  These are attainable goals for me.  First, I want a 10 day supply for 10 people.  This supply is perfect for the type of situations that is most likely to effect my life.  The Mother Nature type of emergency.  Every year I have hours, an occasionally a day, without all the utilities due to weather.  If this were to spread to the family that live some what near by, I will have enough to help them out for 10 day.  Hopefully I will have what it takes to be comfortable and as stress free as possible.  By the end of the 10 days, life should be ready to return to normal.

My second goal is to have supplies for the 10 people for 30 days.  That is what I make my list for and then break it down into thirds so that, if needed, I at least a bit of everything needed.

My third goal is to have a one year supply of the essentials.  Heaven forbid that there is any reason to need it, but these supplies are always usable at any time and never wasted.  Do I think I can feed 10 people for a year?  No way.  But will I have enough for myself.  For sure.  Also, this will be plenty to sustain a large number of people, while we make permanent plans for survival.

I believe in list; list that not only remind me what I have and what I need but also gives me with that nice rush of accomplishment when the items start getting crossed off.  These list which, pertain to my needs and may only be slightly pertinent to you, will be shared on a continual basis.

There you have it.  You know what my 'serious' blog will be all about.  Check back to hear more and always feel free to comment, make recommendations and offer some advice.  Heaven knows I can always use a little help.
